New Platform Offers 40,000 Hotel Meeting Rooms In One Marketplace

Travel management platform Engine has launched a new meeting room marketplace. For now, it functions mainly as a streamlined way to discover meeting spaces and send inquiries, with real-time booking still to come.
Engine Spaces is a new centralized meeting room marketplace aimed at business travelers and remote workers. The platform allows users to quickly browse hotel meeting spaces, including photos, amenity details, and pricing estimates. It also provides a simple way to connect with the property.
According to Engine, the platform has access to more than 40,000 meeting and event spaces across the U.S. and Canada, drawn from its broader listing of 900,000 hotels worldwide.
“Today, too many teams are stuck hunting for places to meet or settling for coffee shops and lobbies,” said Elia Wallen, founder and CEO of Engine. “By bringing professional meeting spaces into our platform, we’re making it easier for workers to plan travel and collaboration in one place. We’re excited to give modern, distributed teams a better way to come together, get work done, and move faster.”
Choice Hotels is the launch partner, designated a “premier service provider.” Choice worked directly with Engine to supply meeting space details and confirm sales contacts across a portion of its portfolio. Other hotel brands may follow, but Engine would not name additional premier partners currently in negotiation.
Discovery Tool
At launch, the platform functions primarily as a discovery and inquiry tool. Engine is positioning the platform as the “first integrated workspace booking marketplace.” It does not yet support real-time availability, reservations, negotiation, or payment. Each listing includes a form that routes inquiries to a hotel’s designated contact. From there, the process reverts to the traditional back-and-forth between planner and venue, but it is initiated through a cleaner interface.
Engine says real-time booking and payments will come. For now, Spaces operates more like a lead-generation layer on top of existing hotel sales processes than a booking engine. That distinction matters, particularly in an industry crowded with platforms that promise digitization but stop short of transactional capability.
While the company highlights 40,000 meeting and event space listings, it does not make clear how many are backed by formal hotel partnerships. Some listings come from partner hotels with existing agreements, while others are pulled from publicly available online sources. Only a subset of properties has fully optimized listings, meaning verified contacts, up-to-date photos, and detailed specifications.
Engine frames Spaces as a response to widespread inefficiencies on both the supply and demand sides of the market. It ties that demand to broader workplace shifts, noting that many employers have reduced office footprints since 2020, often without providing alternative workspace options for employees on the road.
Still, hotels have long been aware that their meeting rooms sit unused much of the time. The more difficult question is how aggressively they are willing to price that space, and at what operational cost, particularly for smaller meetings that may generate limited ancillary revenue.
Engine says its goal is to address an unmet need, increase engagement across its broader travel platform, and create future monetization opportunities once booking and payment capabilities are introduced.
