Skift Take

Europe is always high on the wish list for incentive groups, and these new hotels will only make it more desirable.

Many of the most anticipated hotel openings in Europe are renovations of historic properties, from Orient Express’s eight-year restoration of a former palace to the Waldorf Astoria in London, set in a building that was originally commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of Queen Victoria.

Skift Meetings’ editors narrowed down the list of dozens of hotels set to debut this year to focus on the 10 with the most appeal for incentive groups.

1. Orient Express Venezia

The new Orient Express Venezia, once a noble palace, has been transformed into a hotel after an eight-year restoration by Architect Aline Asmar d’Amman. Its 47 guest rooms and suites feature marble, Murano glass, and Art Deco–inspired furnishings, and many have canal views. The spa blends Roman thermal heritage with Ottoman bathing traditions, and fine dining is led by three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck. The ballroom seats 120.

2. St. Regis Budapest

Opening in June, the St. Regis Budapest will join Marriott’s Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection hotel, in the Klotild Palaces, two Belle Epoque-era buildings.
