Mexico is a popular destinations for all types of meetings, events and incentive travel. Here's a look at what's new.

Mexico is particularly popular for U.S.-based planners due to its convenient proximity, diverse cultural offerings, and relatively robust infrastructure. With its scenic landscapes, from beautiful beaches to historic cities, Mexico provides an attractive and stimulating environment for business and leisure.

Mexico also offers a wide range of convention centers, luxury resorts, and hospitality services catering to various event needs. The favorable exchange rate further enhances its appeal, allowing planners to maximize their budgets while delivering exceptional experiences.

Below is a compilation of updates on venues, hotels and flight connectivity updates for Mexico.

Tren Maya began operations in December 2023, aiming to change travelers' mobility in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It currently operates from Cancún to Campeche, 300 miles to the West. When fully operational, it will feature 34 stops across the states of Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco, and Chiapas. While the train has raised some controversy, it is undoubtedly a game changer.

Baja California

  • Kimpton Mas Olas in Baja California is an adult-only hotel with 103 guest rooms spread across 27 buildings and a 25,000-sq—ft. spa.
  • Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos is an adults-only coastal property featuring 79 suites, many boasting private terraces and plunge pools offering several onsite all-inclusive culinary options.
  • Grand Hyatt Los Cabos is under construction as part of the OLEADA Pacific Living & Golf private resort community. When it opens in 2026, it will feature 300 guest rooms and an 18-hole golf course on 1,200 acres of luxury.

Jalisco

  • Hotel Indigo Guadalajara Expo, a hotel originally built for the 1970 World Cup, reopened in August 2023. Located in Guadalajara’s historic district, Chapalita, it offers 162 rooms.
  • Breathless Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is set to open in 2025 as part of the Inclusive Collection. The adults-only resort will feature impressive amenities, including four swimming pools, a scenic rooftop with picturesque views, and various culinary options comprising seven à la carte gourmet restaurants, two cafés and two snack areas.

Mexico City

  • Grand Hyatt Mexico Santa Fe is a 287-room hotel with more than 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space and will be an integral part of the mixed-use project Distrito Santa Fe, slated to open in 2025.

Nayarit

  • Pendry Punta Mita is set to open in 2026 perched on a lush, 30-acre landscape steps from one of the best surf breaks in Riviera Nayarit. It will feature 115 guest rooms, six signature dining concepts, a spa and 30 private residences.
  • Montage Punta Mita will feature 140 guest rooms, a sports center offering pickleball, tennis and a variety of outdoor activities,  as well as flexible meeting and event spaces situated among 63-acres, all set to open in 2026.

Quintana Roo

  • The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai opened recently as part of a 620-acre nature reserve with two miles of white-sand beachfront. Developers minimized the construction and environmental footprint to protect and preserve the area. The hotel has 182 guest rooms, including 30 suites and a ballroom that can accommodate 450 guests amidst the mangroves.
  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is a 400-suite adults-only all-suite resort in Cancun between the Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean Ocean.
  • Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres, now open, is a 507-room, adults-only resort. It’s a short ferry ride to the nearby island of Isla Mujeres or Isla Contoy National Park, one of Mexico’s protected parks.
  • Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club, a 301-suite adults-only resort, is in downtown Tulum's heart.
  • Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort reopened recently with 540 rooms in the heart of Cancun’s vibrant Hotel Zone, nestled along 600 feet of private pristine beachfront.
  • Park Hyatt Cancun, a beachfront resort access, has more than 3,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, including a 2,000-sq. ft. ballroom is set to open in 2025.
  • Tulum now has its own airport. The Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO) is open, with the number of domestic flights and international routes growing rapidly. The current schedule includes flights to New York (JFK) & (EWD), Chicago (ORD), Charlotte (CLT), Atlanta (ATL), Miami (MIA), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH) and Los Angeles (LAX) in the U.S. Flights to Toronto (YYZ) and Montréal (YUL) in Canada start in May and Panama City (PTY) start in June. Frankfurt (FRA) will have a direct seasonal connection starting in December 2024.
  • Cancun Airport will have a new connection with the Italian city of Verona starting in December 2024.
