Mandalay Bay Completes $100 Million Remodel of Convention Center 

On Thursday, the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, part of MGM Resorts International, announced the completion of a $100 million redesign of its 2.1 million-square-foot convention center. The comprehensive remodel and update include upgraded technology infrastructure, including additional dynamic digital signage and a fresh design aligned with the resort’s tropical-inspired brand.

“Our goal is to evolve alongside the meetings industry to meet the needs of the modern customer. Based on invaluable insights from our customer advisory board, we crafted a space at Mandalay Bay that sets a new standard in excellence and reflects the future of modern meetings, events and trade shows,” said Ernest Stovall, vice president of hotel sales for Mandalay Bay.

The convention center ranked 7th among the U.S.’s largest convention centers in a recent ranking by the Wall Street Journal. It scored high marks for exhibition space and meeting rooms but low for arts/entertainment, food availability, walkability and weather. The remodel and resort updates could push the center upwards in the arts/entertainment and food availability rankings.

Unveiled throughout the last two-and-a-half years, the reimagined convention center was on display for IMEX America 2023 attendees. This year’s show attendees will see the full package.

Technology Enhancements

Mandalay Bay now boasts 11 dynamic digital walls measuring up to 24′ x 13′, strategically positioned for brand placements, sponsorships and targeted event messaging. Additionally, attendees can benefit from 20 double-sided 55″ mobile, flexible display units, facilitating effortless navigation to meeting rooms and events. All meeting room doors now feature RFID locks and over 200 motion detection cameras have been placed throughout the space. The convention center also installed cutting-edge Cat6A Ethernet cabling which will give the venue best-in-class data transmission speeds.

Fresh Design and Art Installations

Conceptualized by the MGM Resorts International Design Group in collaboration with Dezmotif Studios, the contemporary design incorporates practical improvements such as enhanced lighting, streamlined signage and inviting seating areas.

In addition to redesigning all pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and ballrooms, Mandalay Bay’s 1 million square feet of exhibit space has been rejuvenated with a fresh paint job, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights.

As part of MGM Resorts’ commitment to promoting diverse and underrepresented artists within its corporate Fine Art program, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center now features new works by Kenyan fine art photographer Thandiwe Muriu and Canadian photo artist Sarah Anne Johnson, among others.

Resort Updates

In addition to the convention center, Mandalay Bay Resort developments include the recent remodel of all 424 rooms and suites at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. Two new high-end restaurants are open, Orla by Michael Mina and Caramá by Wolfgang Puck. Opening later in 2024 are Swingers – The Crazy Golf Club, a blend of crazy golf, street food and cocktails, and Bob Marley Hope Road, an immersive experience in honor of Bob Marley.
