Destinations International is joining forces with insurance and risk management firm Anderson Benson to create a bespoke event cancellation program.

Destinations International (DI) has partnered with Anderson Benson, a Nashville-based insurance and risk management company in the meetings and events space, to offer event cancelation insurance and risk management policy options. Details of the program were offered during PCMA Convening Leaders. The program will be exclusively available to DI members and members’ clients.

This new offering is a long time coming, as the two organizations have been working on creating this event cancelation product since December 2021. “We have listened to your industry,” said George Anderson, president of Anderson Benson, a company with a long history insuring concerts featuring artists including Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney.

The product is bespoke because you only pay for the contingencies you need. It includes coverage to protect budgeted costs and expenses or revenue should an event be canceled, abandoned, or disrupted due to reasons beyond the destination organization’s control.

Coverage plans provide protection against traditional force majeure occurrences such as adverse weather and terrorism. Policies can also guard against recent event cancellation issues like civil commotion, national mourning, and travel boycotts and bans.

“In today’s climate, destinations of all sizes must be prepared for potential risks that may be out of a destination’s control,” said Don Welsh, president and CEO of Destinations International.
